Watch and Learn

Bunky bought me a new watch over the weekend as an early Christmas present. These metal watches are quite a bit heavier than the one I am accustomed to, but I really wanted a watch that won’t need to have its band replaced in a few years. Also, I think that the analog watch looks nicer than that Timex digital watch I had been sporting. I haven’t worn it yet, because the band is a little long and I can’t seem to find a suitable tool for getting the pin out; I may have to take it to a store and borrow their tool. Attempting to tell time with the watch is rather difficult, as there are no numbers on the marks, but I am slowly getting used to being forced to multiply in my head again. So far the only features I think I’ll miss are 1) Indiglo, and 2) digital time so that it’s not 3 minutes later when I finally figure out what the watch says.

Yesterday marked the end of the first week of competition in my fantasy NBA league. My squad, KaleidoStars, eeked out some hard-fought points to triumph 6-2-1 over “Panty Dropper Patrol”. I figured I was in trouble since I only had a 0.01 lead in FG% going into the last day and I had no players playing while my opponent had two centers playing (Chris Mihm and Tim Duncan). However, Tim Duncan inexplicably shot 0.250 from the floor, and so I won the category by an impressive 0.02 and am currently in second place in the league. Unfortunately, next week I play the first place team “Sixers Rule” and they look pretty tough. The points I lost have traditionally been weak for me: points and turnovers. The reason for this is that I usually draft for well-rounded players, and often players that score a lot shoot poorly from the field. As for turnovers, the more often you have the ball in your hands, the more often you are going to turn the ball over. Of course it didn’t help that Richard Jefferson managed to get 11 turnovers all by himself in a single game.

Oh yeah, and the evil squirrels are back. It’s hard fighting the major evils of this world: squirrels and spam.
