Latest Wordpress Contests

I spotted on Lorelle’s site a post about two upcoming Wordpress Contests:

1. WordPress Plugins Competition: This could have some neat results. Especially with the introduction of Widgets in the recent WP 2.2 upgrade, I’m intrigued to see what people come up with.
2. Sandbox WordPress Theme Competition: The last few theme competitions never really got off the ground. Ever since Alex King stopped doing all the legwork, it seems like all the contests have been failures. Well, this one has a much lower barrier to entry, as you merely need to design the CSS for the Sandbox Theme. It’d be nice if they had a K2 CSS contest =D. I like it when the core files of a theme can be left alone and the theme can be easily customized from the stylesheet.
